UAS adalah ulama kelahiran Silo Lama, Asahan, Sumatra Utara pada 18 Mei Abdul Somad berasal dari keturunan Melayu Riau dan Melayu Asahan. Selain memiliki gelar akademik sepanjang itu, UAS juga memiliki gelar adat Datuk Seri Ulama Setia ayah merupakan seorang petani keturunan Melayu Riau. Sedangkan sang ibu keturunan Syekh Abdurrahman atau dikenal sebagai Syekh Silau Silau Laut merupakan ulama sufi beraliran Tarekat Syattariyah Batu Bara di Sumatra kecil, Abdul Somad dididik melalui sekolah berbasis Tahfidz Al-Qur'an. Pada tahun 1990 UAS menyelesaikan pendidikan sekolah dasarnya di SD Al-Washliyah Medan. Lalu melanjutkan pendidikannya ke Madrasah Tsanawiyah Mu'allimin Al-Washliyah Medan dan lulus pada satu tahun, Abdul Somad melanjutkan ke Pesantren Darularafah Deliserdang, Sumatra Utara. Lalu pada 1994, UAS melanjutkan sekolahnya di Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Falah, Riau hingga Somad sempat berkuliah di UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau pada 1996-1998 sebelum akhirnya melanjutkan ke Universitas Al-Azhar mendapat gelar Lc, Abdul Somad melanjutkan program S2 nya di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, namun hanya sempat berkuliah selama dua semester. Baca Juga Pada 2004, UAS mendapatkan beasiswa program S2 di Institut Darul-Hadits Al-Hassaniyah Rabat dan mendapat gelar pada Abdul Somad melanjutkan pendidikan S3 nya di Universitas Islam Omdurman Sudan dan menyelesaikannya pada tahun 2012, Ustadz Abdul Somad menikahi Mellya Juniarti dan dikaruniai putra bernama Mizyan Hadziq pada 2021, Ustadz Abdul Somad menikah dengan Fatimah memiliki ilmu pengetahuan yang cukup luas, UAS diketahui aktif mengabdikan diri di berbagai lembaga pendidikan sebagai sempat menjadi Dosen Bahasa Arab serta Dosen Tafsir dan Hadits di UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, dan Dosen Agama Islam di STAI Al-Azhar Yayasan Masmur itu, Ustadz Abdul Somad sempat menjabat sebagai anggota MUI, anggota Badan Amil Zakat, dan Sekretaris Lembaga Bahtsul Masa'il NU Provinsi tengah kesibukannya berdakwah, UAS banyak menerjemahkan kitab berbahasa Arab ke bahasa Indonesia.
